S-Miles Group Celebrates Chinese New Year 2025, Welcoming the Year of the Snake

Chinese New Year is one of the most meaningful and important festivals for Chinese communities around the world, including Thai-Chinese families. This year, the “Wai” Ceremony (Ancestor & Deity Offering Day) falls on Tuesday, 28 January 2025. S.MILES Group proudly joined in the celebration of this joyful and prosperous festival with our annual Chinese New Year Worship Ceremony – Pai Lao Ye (Honoring the Deities).

Led by our executive team, headed by Khun Thong Methakul Suwanabut, the ceremony featured a full traditional offering set, including Ngoh Sae (five auspicious meats), rice wine, tea, water, sweets, fruits, and gold-and-silver joss paper. All offerings were prepared to pray for blessings, prosperity, and good fortune for the entire S.MILES Group family throughout the year.

In addition, a special lion dance performance was held at Maybis Hotel to celebrate the Lunar New Year. According to traditional Chinese beliefs, a lion dance brings good fortune, as the “lion” is considered a sacred creature that can ward off evil spirits and negativity. It symbolizes strength, power, courage, and loyalty.

Those who witness the lion dance are believed to receive blessings of good luck and prosperity throughout the Year of the Little Snake. This vibrant and meaningful performance added a festive and auspicious touch to the celebration.

But the highlights didn’t end there. S-MILES Group also prepared a special surprise activity for all employees across the organization—a vibrant Chinese New Year performance presented by the Human Resources Department and the Hotel Management Team, adding even more color and excitement to the celebration.
In addition to the performances, our management team also continued the tradition of giving out angpao (hongbao) the familiar red envelopes as auspicious gifts to express appreciation and well-wishes to every employee on this festive occasion.
